Culottes. Now this trend isn’t exactly Spring 2017. It’s been hanging around for a while. But it probably took you a whole fashion year to get on board and now you have a pair in that closet. And you are thinking, how the hell do I wear pants that look like skirts? Simple? You either pretend they are pants and wear them so, or pretend it is a skirt and do your thing. Versatile. Right…? Right.

Onto the styling. I as per usual, lost it in the semi-annual Zara sale and grabbed this staple. Trust Zara to get all forms and shapes out as quickly as possible! I choose this airy blue pair with a belt to add some definition to the waist! It gets pretty floaty at the bottom and I like to add some shape if I can! As it is pretty hot right now in Canada, I just added an off shoulder top, a neck scarf and put on my reliable converse! Oh, oh, those shades? You can’t help but admire that flat clean cat-eye design by Le Specs!

You can definitely dress up or down with this piece! While I chose a solid colour to start, you can always pick a patterned, fun one too! Just work it with your style!

Need some options? Check out this bejewelled one from Zara,  or this wool, formal one from Aritzia. And if you like to get two trends in at one, try this paperbag style culottes from Emerson Thorpe!
